All-Star Teams Announced
Filed Under NBA | Leave a Comment
Kobe repeating All-Star Game MVP? Making is 10th, that’s right, 10th All-Star starting appearance, Kobe Bryant is posed to take the leading role yet again as the greatest players of the league get together for one incredible game in New Orleans.
I can’t believe that Tracy McGrady got 2x as many votes as Chris Paul did. That’s just dumb. Chris Paul is getting 20.8 PPG on 48% shooting (34.4% 3pt), 3.9 RPB, 10.7 APG, 2.6 SPG, with only 2.58 TO. Tracy is barely getting more points at 22 PPG shooting 44% (31% 3pt), less than 1 rpb more at 4.7 RPG, less than 5 the assists at 5.2 APG, only 1 SPG, and almost the same TO at 2.5. Let’s not forget that he’s also missed 15 games already! And New Orleans is one of the hottest teams right now while Houston is a flop.
I’m really glad AI overtook Tracy at least for the starting spot, at least he’s still playing like AI. I’m also really surprised that Yao Ming wasn’t leading vote getter this year too. What happened, they block China from voting? This year, 4 players got over 2 million votes - KG at 2.4, LB at 2.1, Howard at 2 and KB24 at 2 also barely making it over.
Is this the first year Shaq isn’t going to the All-Star game? Talk about a sign for retirement!

Kobe almost had a triple-double (24pts, 11reb, 8asst) plus Sasha came through in the 4th quarter scoring 12 points to snap a 3 game skid.
Lakers lost Luke Walton to a right hip pointer injury in the 1st quarter…I almost feel like this team is cursed as Luke joins Bynum, Mihm and Ariza on the sidelines.
It was an ugly game, no question about it…Kwame missed some easy layups and free throws, Lamar looked like he was playing hurt, Kobe did not get started till late in the game. Just glad they got a win before their 9 game road trip starting this Thursday at Detroit.
The Lakers’ next game at Staples Center will be Feb. 19 against Atlanta. They’ll travel a total of 8,173 miles on their long road trip, which finishes Feb. 13 at Minnesota.
Cool to see Spike Lee at the game…on our trip to New York a few years ago, we attended a Knicks game vs Philly, and I got to see him on the floor, as we had row 2 seats. A true Knicks fan, NY’s version of Jack Nicholson.
LA takes the season series 2-0.
Next game: Thursday night at Detroit 4:30pm (5:30 TV) PST

Lakers Lose To Cavs 95-98

8 SECONDS!!! That’s how much time the Lakers had to get a shot off at the end of the game. And they failed. Why not have all our shooters in there to give us a better chance of getting the shot off??? Even though I hate to say this, if Sasha was in there, he would have gotten the shot off.
LeBron did his thing (41 points, 9 reb, 4 asst) and so did Kobe (33 points, 12 reb, 6 asst), they put on a great show.
No question about it…the Cavs have owned LA over the last few years…winning 5 straight.
Unlike the last 2 games (Spurs, Mavs), we played a great 3 quarter…but somehow managed to give it all away in the 4th for our 3 straight loss (longest this season).
And how about the whole “rain delay”…what a bunch of crap. They said the crew left their gear after they worked on the roof, and that’s what was leaking, not the actual roof.
Vladimir returned, but did not make a contribution in the 5 minutes he played.
Cavs also swept the season series (beat LA 94-90 last month in Cleveland).
Next game: New York Knicks on Tuesday, 7:30pm Staples Center.

Lakers Lose To Mavs 105-112

Same results, different night.
The Lakers played a good half, but only scored 19 in the 3rd quarter and gave up 35. That was pretty much the game.
Kobe scored 40 (10 reb and 5 asst), including 16 in the 4th for a semi comeback, but it just fell short at the end.
What I did not understand was why D Fish was out in the 4th and Sasha was in…attempting some forced shots which I think made the difference. Plus, Sasha just refused to play any defense.
Something positive from this game was Jordan Farmar’s play, showing great signs. He scored 18 points off the bench.
Injury update: Vladimir is supposed to practice with the team on Saturday.
Next game: Sunday vs the CAVS at 12:30 PST

Lakers Lose To Spurs 91-103

Well, great way to start my 1st post on our new site…
After playing a great first half scoring 54, they don’t score a single point during the 1st 6 min and 30 seconds of the 3rd quarter, making a 9 point lead to a 10 point deficit finishing the 2nd half with only 37 points.
Not sure what they talked about at half time, but they totally went away from what was working in the 1st half. Kobe started it with forcing his 1st 4 shots or so, and the defense just fell apart. And tonight we WERE PLAYING THE SPURS, so you let your guard down and they will walk all over you…after the 3rd, the Lakers did not have a chance.
Man I miss Ariza and Bynum…
Let’s see what happens Friday night against Dallas.
