Here we go again…the 4th time these 2 teams are facing each other in the playoffs in the last 10 years…Lakers got swept the 1st time, but have beaten the Spurs the last 3 times.

Tip off at 6pm PST at the Staples Center, tonight.

The Spurs’ departure from New Orleans after eliminating the Hornets 91-82 in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals was delayed several hours after their plane had mechanical problems…and seems like they could not find any rooms so they slept in the plane. I hope these old timers don’t complain about not getting enough sleep after they lose tonight.

On another note, Trevor Ariza, who has been out since January 20th, is expected to return during the conference finals, which was reported by the LA Times. This will give LA even more depth.

Have read and listened to a lot of talk about this series…2 things stood out.

People saying the match up between Tim Duncan and Pau Gasol is a wash…WHAT!!! The best Power Forward ever is a wash??? I just don’t understand that. I mean Pau is great and all…been an all-star, but we are talking about Tim Duncan. LA would need to keep an eye on this match up for sure.

Also, another thing was how Bruce Bowen is going to contain Kobe…come on now. I know Bruce gets under people’s skin, but there is not a single player that could contain Kobe Bryant. Mr. 24 could drop 50 in any game he chooses.

I am looking forward to see Lamar Odom play, as I don’t think the Spurs have an answer for him.

I am picking the Lakers (what a surprise)…in 6!

GO LAKERS!

Finally!!! He should have gotten it a few times already, but he definetely deserved it this year.

Kobe Bryant MVP

I think this year was one of the toughest to choose the MVP, I think Chris and LeBron both had MVP like seasons as well. But I think with the Lakers finishing 1st in the tough west kind of clinched it.

This makes it 7 times PJ has coached an MVP.

“I don’t know anybody who’s ever deserved this trophy more. I don’t know anybody who’s ever worked as hard to accomplish what he’s accomplished,” said Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who had five-time MVP Michael Jordan with Chicago and was at the helm of the Lakers when Shaquille O’Neal won the award in 2000.

Bryant received 82 first-place votes and 1,100 points in the media vote. He was followed by New Orleans’ Chris Paul (28 and 894), Boston’s Kevin Garnett (15 and 670) and Cleveland’s LeBron James (1 and 438).

So as far as our poll, we had 53 voters, and 47 picked KOBE!

My first entry……….FUCK ALL THE HATERS…….LA   lakers  are going to win it all if and when we get healthy.

Wow, I could easily say this was the best slam dunk contest I have seen for a long time…may be the one Vince Carter won was better…

But you have to give it to Howard, big guy could dunk. My favorite was the one he bounced it off the board with his left hand then he dunked it with his right hand, all in the air. The guy is a monster. Green had no chance this year…

How about Kapone, man 25 points tying the record. Home boy could shoot…

Jason Kidd and Malik Allen are heading to Dallas for Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop, Devean George and Maurice Ager, $3 million and 1st round picks this off-season and in 2010.

This trade will be the NBA’s third blockbuster trade this month, starting with Pau Gasol to LA, then Shaq to Pheonix and now Kidd to Dallas.

This will be interesting to see how it plays out. I think they’ll still flop even with Kidd. Their main guy, Dirk, will always be a flake in the playoff crunch time. I feel bad for Kidd going to a team with no heart.

So far were halfway into the season we seen some disapointmens ” Heat,Bulls, Nets, SHAQ, ” & surprises ” New Orleans, Gasol trade,” but the MVP race is no surprise this year.  MVP top 3

Player - why he will win MVP - why he wont win MVP

K. Bryant - second leading scorer, team winning, unselfish this year - KG & L. James

G. Garnett - Best team, Great stats, unselfish play - if misses to many games or bad celtics second half

L. James - Just look at his stats “enough said” - team record

My pridiction Garnett over Kobe

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns have acquired Shaquille O’Neal in a stunning, blockbuster deal that sends four-time All-Star Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks to the Miami Heat.

The improbable pairing of the speedy Suns and the slow but once-mighty O’Neal became official when he cleared a physical exam Wednesday.

The trade, a dramatic move by first-year Phoenix general manager Steve Kerr, signals an unexpected change in philosophy for the Suns, adding a 7-foot-1, 325-pound center who has won four NBA championships but has been plagued by injuries in recent years and turns 36 next month. O’Neal has been out with a hip injury and underwent an MRI exam in Miami on Tuesday. He flew to Phoenix on Wednesday for the physical.

O’Neal has averaged 25.6 points and 11.5 rebounds in his 14-plus NBA seasons.

This season, plagued by injuries and going through a divorce, he’s averaging 14.2 points. His 14-year streak as an All-Star choice came to an end this year.

He missed much of the 2006-07 season with a knee injury and finished that year with career-lows in games (40), scoring (17.3 points), rebounds (7.4), minutes (28.4) and free-throw percentage (.422).

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Kobe repeating All-Star Game MVP? Making is 10th, that’s right, 10th All-Star starting appearance, Kobe Bryant is posed to take the leading role yet again as the greatest players of the league get together for one incredible game in New Orleans.

I can’t believe that Tracy McGrady got 2x as many votes as Chris Paul did. That’s just dumb. Chris Paul is getting 20.8 PPG on 48% shooting (34.4% 3pt), 3.9 RPB, 10.7 APG, 2.6 SPG, with only 2.58 TO. Tracy is barely getting more points at 22 PPG shooting 44% (31% 3pt), less than 1 rpb more at 4.7 RPG, less than 5 the assists at 5.2 APG, only 1 SPG, and almost the same TO at 2.5. Let’s not forget that he’s also missed 15 games already! And New Orleans is one of the hottest teams right now while Houston is a flop.

I’m really glad AI overtook Tracy at least for the starting spot, at least he’s still playing like AI. I’m also really surprised that Yao Ming wasn’t leading vote getter this year too. What happened, they block China from voting? This year, 4 players got over 2 million votes - KG at 2.4, LB at 2.1, Howard at 2 and KB24 at 2 also barely making it over.

Is this the first year Shaq isn’t going to the All-Star game? Talk about a sign for retirement!

Check out the entire list of All-Star players
